What exactly does empathic do?
I redesign checkout experiences for ecommerce companies losing revenue to friction — cart, checkout, and the pages that lead into it. Every engagement starts with an audit to find where you're actually losing customers, then moves into design work to fix it. Once fixes are live, I stay involved to review how they're performing and adjust when the data calls for it. This isn't a strategy deck you hand to your dev team — I deliver implementation-ready design work directly.
What industries do you work with?
Ecommerce companies with real traffic — enough volume that checkout friction is costing meaningful revenue, not just a handful of lost sales. Electrical supply, pet products, and general DTC retail are examples of past work; the common thread is traffic without the checkout conversion to match.
How is empathic different from a marketing agency?
A marketing agency typically drives traffic — ads, SEO, email. I don't touch acquisition at all. My work starts at the point someone's already on your site and ends at the point they've completed checkout. If your traffic is healthy but conversion is weak, that's a design problem, not a marketing problem, and it's a different discipline to fix.
Who would I actually be working with?
Me, directly. There's no account manager, no junior designer doing the work while a senior person reviews it, no handoff between the person who sold the engagement and the person who executes it. The audit, the design, and the ongoing optimization are all done by me — one weekly call, everything else async.
Do you build/develop the changes, or just design them?
Design only. I deliver implementation-ready files built for handoff to your dev team, and I QA the finished build against the design once it ships to make sure what launched matches what was designed. I don't write code or push to your stack myself.
What happens if you're unavailable?
I intentionally keep a small number of active engagements at any time, and I won't sign a new client if it means letting an existing one slip. If something comes up on my end, you'll hear about it before it affects a deadline, not after. That said, this is a fair trade-off to think through: you get direct access to the person doing the work instead of a team with built-in redundancy, and for most clients that trade is worth it, since the alternative usually means paying more for layers you don't actually need.
